FloNergia FloMov airlift pump

FloMov is an airlift pump from FloNergia in Canada that moves and aerates water at the same time, using compressed air instead of an impeller. Air injected at the base of a submerged pipe makes the mixture lighter than the surrounding water, so it rises.

The pump has two adjustable injection points. Axial injection increases lift and radial injection through a perforated tube makes fine bubbles that raise oxygen transfer, so the air to water ratio can be tuned for flow or for aeration.

In aquaculture FloMov evens out temperature by lifting cool, oxygen-rich water from the bottom, raises oxygen, strips CO2 and keeps waste in suspension. There are no moving parts underwater, so maintenance is minimal. FloNergia puts the energy saving at 50 to 70 % compared with conventional airlift pumps and systems.

Pumps range from 0.5 to 8 inches. The small sizes (0.5 to 2 in) are 3D printed from food-grade Nylon PA 2200, larger sizes are industrial PVC, and 304 or 316 stainless steel is available.
